Hello Houston - fall is in the air - its only 90 degrees!

We deliver and install St Augustine sod in Houston TX and surrounding area

The summer is over and this is the second best time of year to plan grass. Cooler weather is coming and with it some normal seasonal rains.

We are TEXAS Lic Applicators and can diagnose and treat for Army Web-worm in St Augustine sod and other southern turf grass. Be on the look out - if you see white moths in the morning or afternoon when walking though the lawn.

If you see a sudden change - an area of your lawn that looks like the grass blades have been eaten / cut down to the roots - look for green caterpillars in the lawn. You may also notice a lot of birds feeding on your lawn. A simple test to look for them is to pour a little water + dish soap in the lawn closer to the evening when they start to get active again. The Army Worms will come to the surface if they are present

Spring is around the corner

The very wet spring in 2015 brought to the attention of many home owners issues in the grading of their lawn and landscape. Predictions of a wet spring in 2016 are calling for almost as much rainfall.

Often times lawns that do not drain will die from fungus / rot and will need to be replaced

Many solutions are available with simple grading / open swale / rock work prior to installation of a french drain or more expensive sump pump

We primarily do dirt work at the same time as sod installation - depending on the scope of work - a site inspection is needed to give accurate professional answers
